Five men wanted in connection with three rape cases
Police are investigating cases of three women who were raped between October last year and February.
INVESTIGATING officers at the Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit are seeking assistance from the community to locate the people in the attached identikits.
It is believed these people will be able to assist police to solve rape cases.
A 21-year-old woman was raped at gunpoint in Umbilo on 30 October last year. According to the police, she was walking on the road when a car with three men stopped next to her and offered her a lift.
“She was taken to a secluded area on Oliver Lea Drive in Umbilo Park where they took turns to rape her. A case of rape was opened at Umbilo police station,” said provincial police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala.
In a separate but similar incident, a 14-year-old girl suffered the same fate on Langton Road, Montclair.
On Thursday, 6 February, she was on the road walking when a car with two men stopped next to her and forced her in.
“She was taken to a certain place where she was repeatedly raped by both men. A case of rape was opened at Montclair police station,” Gwala said.
