Tuesday, 18 February
A CASE of carjacking was filed with the Montclair SAPS after an e-hailing service driver was held at knife point in his car at about 10am.

The driver responded to a request to transport passengers from Clermont to Montclair. While transporting the men to Montclair, he did not notice anything sinister about them. While on Montclair Road one of the occupants told him to park in front of the houses that was below road level.

While in the process of ending the trip meter, he was attacked from the rear by one of the men who grabbed hold of him by the neck. The other occupant, who was seated in the front passenger seat, turned the ignition off. The victim was bundled into the rear seat of the vehicle and tied with a cable around his arms.

The suspects dove off onto oncoming traffic. The driver then decided to grab hold of the man seated on the rear seat and unlocked the door. Both alighted from the vehicle, however, the driver could not over power the assailant because he was in possession of a knife. He was left on the road and made his way to the police station for assistance.
