Dedicated team aspires to beautify the Bluff

Prinsloo shared that the beautification of this facility will tie in with the Under The Storytelling Tree initiative launched by the community’s very own world renowned author and living legend Gcina Mhlophe.

BEAUTIFICATION is a key aspect of community development and can serve as an easy way to bring people together. This is according to Bluff councillor JP Prinsloo in light of the rejuvenation of the Bluff Artists Beautification Project.

“Local artists came together and established a small working group to discuss ways in which we could roll out this beautification initiative across ward 66. Possible beautification sites and projects were identified along main routes as well as along the International Whale Heritage route. Communities and cities often undertake beautification projects to refurbish their local streets and boost tourism and other commerce,” said Prinsloo.

Cllr JP Prinsloo and local artists came together and established a small working group to discuss ways in which they could roll-out the beautification project across ward 66.

In partnership with eThekwini Municipality’s parks department, the first project being tackled by the team will be to refurbish and repaint the old toilet facilities located on the Bluff Showgrounds. Prinsloo shared that the beautification of this facility will tie in with the Under The Storytelling Tree arts and literary event  launched by the community’s very own world renowned author and living legend Gcina Mhlophe.

For these projects to be successful the team requires paint donations and some painting equipment to paint each of these murals. If any local business would be interested in partnering with them on this project, email ward66@ethekwini.org or contact 031 467 0056.
