Caution to learners during school holidays

Police will be deployed in hotspot areas and at beaches to ensure that those who use drugs and alcohol in public places are arrested.

FOLLOWING the recent incidents of learners being involved in ‘Pens Down/Explosion’ school closing parties, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police send a stern warning to those who will be attending these parties to behave themselves and not get into trouble with the law.

Police will be deployed in hotspot areas and at beaches to ensure that those who use drugs and alcohol in public places are arrested. “Drug-taking among our youth is destroying their lives and future. We want schools to be safe so that our children can empower themselves with knowledge for their future. Parents and communities have a responsibility to educate our children with regards to the dangers of indulging in drugs. We also encourage communities to continue informing us of the presence of drug dealers,” said KZN police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala.

Police will be deployed in recreation areas to ensure that no alcohol is used in those areas. We are also appealing to parents not to allow their children to travel alone when embarking on trips during the festive season.
