WEDNESDAY, 6 NOVEMBER: BirdLife Port Natal hosts an outing to Glenholme Nature Reserve at Kloof SPCA at 7.30am. Grasslands, scarp forest and rare swamp forest. Bring a picnic and chairs for afterwards. Call Sandy du Perez on 031-701-4839.

WEDNESDAY, 6 NOVEMBER: eThekwini municipality, together with the ward 66 small business committee, host a small business workshop at the Bluff National Golf Course from 9am to 1pm, which will cater for the small businesses in the construction industry. Speakers from SARS, NHBRC, Master Builders, Safec and CIDB will be present on the day to impart their knowledge and expertise on the field as well as provide advice to developing small business owners. SATURDAY, 9 NOVEMBER: Durban Mountain Homestead Association hold its 76th AGM at Clarence Primary School at 10am. The community is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served from 9am. RSVP to Robin Hatton on 031-205-6855 or 082-301-1197.

WEDNESDAY, 13 NOVEMBER: BirdLife Port Natal hosts an indoor meeting at Westville Methodist Church at 6.30pm. A talk and photographs on birding in the Kruger Park by Adam Cruickshank will be presented. Call Virginia Cameron on 074-580-3341 for further information.

THURSDAY, 14 NOVEMBER: Monthly meeting of Natalia Garden Club takes place at the Pigeon Club, Tara Road at 9.30am. The decorative competition is entitled a palm sheath with a Christmas theme and the cultural competition is three variegated leaves in a container. Two speakers, Karolina Kotze and Yusimi Zayas, will present a talk with specimens on orchids. Visitors are welcome at a fee of R15. Refreshments and snacks are served during the break. SATURDAY, 16 NOVEMBER: Durban and Coastal Branch of the Genealogical Society of SA hosts an event at the Family History Centre, Church of the Latter Day Saints, Montgomery Lane (off Silverton Road), Musgrave, Berea at 2pm. Guest speaker, Edrick Pascoe, master of the high court, Durban will speak about the workings of the offices of the master of the supreme court, Pietermaritzburg, and the master of the high court in Durban, and on the accessioning of documents from these offices.
