Wentworth Hospital staff raise over R12K for Cansa

Hair spray painting, cake raffles, a variation of tasty foods and snacks and assorted Cansa products were on sale as part of the fundraiser.

IT WAS all shades of pink at Wentworth Hospital on Thursday, 24 October as the pharmacy staff initiated a cancer awareness drive and fundraiser. Hair spray painting, cake raffles, a variation of tasty foods and snacks and assorted Cansa products were on sale as part of the fundraiser. More than R12 500 was collected and donated to Cansa.

“This was a suggestion from one of our staff members, Melaney Govender, as she works closely with cancer organisations. We liked the idea so much we extended it to the pharmacy staff and eventually the entire hospital with permission from the CEO. We then came up with a range of activities such as hair spray painting and the sale of food items to raise funds. We also had pamphlets to hand out and pink ribbons. And for today only, staff were encouraged to wear pink for a small fee which would go into the fundraising purse,” said pharmacy manager Zaheeda Ebrahim.

Zaheeda thanked all who supported this worthy cause.
