No fuss for Durban Wanderers bowlers in any pairs competition

Sunday, 3 November, sees the club host the ever popular prawn festival.

The no frills, no fuss any pairs competition took place on Sunday, 20 October, with an early start to cater for the World Cup rugby.

There were two games of 10 ends followed by the rugby and then a bring and braai, which was a great success. Thanks to all the braai masters for a great afternoon. The bowls prizes went the way of Richard Hendicott and Winston Ndunge on a zero minus a good few. First session went the way of Lofty Cawthorne and Val McCaffrey on a 2+7, and birthday boy Robin Grobler and Robbie Spiller won second session on a 2+13. The second spot overall was a count out with Kim and Lorinne Hawkins beating Paul White and Lindsey Owen on a 4+7. Overall winners were Hanno Blom and Greg Ferns on a 4+14.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: lamb pack – Richard Hendicott, beef – Thomas Simpkins, pork roast – Derek Rowsell, beef roast – Brian Reid, chicken pack – Dave Leuchards, chicken – Diane Symons.

The R500 snowball was a carry over as Laura Du Plooy was not present. The Friday Lotto of R2 350 was won by Troy Simpkins.

Sunday, 3 November, sees the club host the ever popular prawn festival.

Tickets are limited so confirm your booking as soon as possible. Tickets for either option are R100 per person. There will also be live music on supplied by Reflex.

The clubs function rooms – tavern, upstairs and downstairs are now fully renovated and available for hire. The two squash courts also have some unallocated time slots for members and non-members. Contact the club on 031-462-2320 or pop in for further enquiries.
