Staircases repaired in ward 66

Many of these stairs are in need urgent maintenance and repair.

MORE than 80 staircases in ward 66 will finally receive the attention they need. According to councillor JP Prinsloo, many of these stairs are in need of urgent maintenance and repair.

“After several months and years of complaints the city has finally managed to secure contractors to repair all the broken staircases across the ward. The physical repair of these staircases are the first step in ensuring that they do not remain the safety risk they currently are,” said Prinsloo.

He added that the Parks and Recreation Department is in the process of finalising co-operatives that will manage and maintain trees and verges along with the staircases. “In return, DSW will be able to clean all staircases on a more frequent basis,” he said.
