Durban Wanderers bowlers continue competing in men’s drawn 4’s competition

Sunday, 3 November, sees the club host the ever popular prawn festival.

Saturday, 12 October, saw the continuation of the men’s drawn 4’s competition at Durban Wanderers.

Paul White, Geoff Atkins, Denis Hearnshaw and Dirk Roos beat Eric Smit, Awongiwe Somtseu, Brian Deats and Thomas Simpkins 22-15 in the semi-finals, but lost in the final to Richard Hendicott, Neville Phillips, Tommy Cloete and Cave James 24-7.

The breakfast trips took place on Sunday morning, 13 October. The sportsman’s prize went the way of Dave Gardner, Noreen Butler and Neville Roscoe on zero minus a good few. First session winners were Roger Boulle, Gail Norton and Lionel Watts on a 2+25. Second session winners were Paul White, Val McCaffrey and Robbie Carr on a 2+13. Second overall on the day was Derek Stevens, Jeff Bolt and Winston Ndunge on a 4+17. Overall winners on the day were Norman Moore, Maria Arnold and Aroo Mudlay on a 4+18. There were two 60/40 boards, with the R40 spoils going to Neville Roscoe and Denis Hearnshaw, while the R20 spoils went the way of Jeff Bolt and Dave Gardner.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: lamb pack – Wayne Parkins, beef – Richard Hendicott, pork roast – Thomas Simpkins, beef roast – Wayne Parkins, chicken pack – Thomas Simpkins, chicken – Chris Fourie.

The R1 000 snowball was won by Thomas Simpkins.

The Friday Lotto sitting at R2 100 was a carry over as no one guessed the correct three numbers drawn.

Sunday, 3 November, sees the club host the ever popular prawn festival. Tickets are limited so confirm your booking as soon as possible. Samantha’s kitchen will also offer her popular eisbein special on the same day. Tickets for either option are R100 per person. There will also be live music by Reflex.

The clubs function rooms – tavern, upstairs and downstairs are now fully renovated and available for hire.

The two squash courts also have some unallocated time slots for members and non-members.
