"Mike had a passion for life and his caring and sharing made a difference in many people's lives," said Marlene le Roux.

FORMER Bluff resident and founder of Froggie Shoes, Michael Arthur Gedye, passed away at the age of 69 on Wednesday, 25 September. The fallen oak, as he is now referred to by his family, was hailed as a kind, generous and compassionate man.

The Bushlands Primary School and Grovenor Boys’ High School Old Boy was born on 4 March 1950 and is survived by his wife Sarah, sons Lloyd, Warren, Josh and daughter Ella and sister Marlene and her family.

Mike’s involvement in the development of the Bluff and generosity made him popular among residents. His passion was with the Harlequins rugby, golf, hockey, water polo and rugby academy as well as his shoemaking company, Froggie, which he built into an empire with his family.

“Mike had a passion for life and his caring and sharing made a difference in many people’s lives. You are gone, but will never be forgotten and your legacy will live on through all who knew you. Rest in peace you gentle giant, you have left huge shoes to fill. You can be proud of your achievements and rest knowing you did your best while you were on earth,” said Mike’s sister, Marlene le Roux.
