U13 boys need funding to score Joburg soccer tourney

Coach Mario Labuschagne said that the boys are talented football enthusiasts who eat, drink, sleep and live for it.

SIX soccer boys have scored themselves a chance to showcase their skills in Johannesburg at the Inter-District football tournament. The boys will be part of 150 other junior players from various clubs and age groups affiliated to the Durban Central Local Football Association.

However, the Bayview FC U13 boys face a financial hurdle as most of their parents are either unemployed or cannot afford to fork out the R2 650 desperately needed to secure their seats for the Gauteng tour.

Shae de Bruine, Jaliel Eddie, Lungelo Ngwane and Chase Labuschagne are afforded a potentially life-changing opportunity in their young soccer careers. Jordan Roskruge and Chad Fynn are also part of the team but are on standby.
Coach Mario Labuschagne said that the boys are talented football enthusiasts who eat, drink, sleep and live for it. “All they want to be one day is professional footballers, Shae and Chase have already represented KZN schools during the June holidays in Limpopo in the Bill Stewart Provincial Tournament. This is yet another achievement for all six boys, however, it is sad that some players are unable to participate due to financial difficulties, I plead with our community to help in assisting these boys to reach their dreams and goals. The cost for each player is R2 650 for the trip, which includes transport, accommodation, meals, and kits. I would not like for any of these boys to be left behind due to financial difficulties,” he said.
