Pet food gifted to resident for 60th birthday

The idea stemmed from Bluff resident, Linda Cooksley, who decided to use her and her husband's popularity for a good cause.

WHAT do you get a dog lover who is truly content with his life on his 60th birthday? A birthday bash and dog food, of course! Popular Bluff tattoo artist, Patrick Cooksley, is that guy.

Fynnland Sports Club was abuzz with over 300 people and live music on Saturday, 14 September, in celebration of his birthday. “I’ve had so many birthdays already and I didn’t want any presents for my 60th,” said Patrick.

The idea stemmed from his wife, Linda, who decided to use their popularity for a good cause. “Knowing that a lot of people would be lost as to buying Pat a birthday gift, I came up with a drive to collect dog food to donate to an organisation,” she said.

“Thank you to My Pet Pinetown and Bluff Unleashed Pet Shop for your donations of dog food. All the live bands that played great music, Gordon Jackson, the sound engineer, and everyone who made this day a wonderful memory,” said Linda.

The dog food was donated to Bark Angel and the donation came at a time when the animal rescue and rehabilitation organisation needed it most, having recently posted an appeal on Facebook. “We are running short on the little funds we have at the moment. Every little food and monetary donation goes a long way in making sure we never let any doggie down without food,” said founder, Debbie Moss.

Bark Angel rescues, houses, feeds, cleans and medicates stray, abandoned, injured, neglected and abused dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. This worthy organisation does, however, occasionally fall on tough times with little to no food at donation bins at the Bluff Spar from time to time.
