Natalia Garden Club members are in for a treat at the next meeting

Natalia Garden Club holds its next meeting at the Pigeon Club hall in Tara Road on the Bluff on Thursday, 10 October at 9.30am.

After opening Natalia Garden Club’s meeting with a prayer on Thursday, 12 September, president Karolina Kotze welcomed members present.

Members responsible for bringing snacks for the October meeting, namely Bev Beard, Nora Brown, Jeanne Buitendag, Zela Catlett and Beryl Povall were reminded. Members who continue to bring sales table items and those who purchase them were thanked. This also applies to members who take tickets for the door and raffle prizes that assists in boosting club funds.

Grateful thanks to Kamy Moodley, Yusimi Zayas and Moira Paige for peanut butter and jam donated towards the Bluff School’s Sandwich Ministry. Birthday wishes were extended to Adie Backhouse who celebrated her birthday in September.

The door and raffle prizes donated by Kamy Moodley were won by Nora Brown. The 100 club was won by Karolina Kotze. She enlightened members on names of indoor plants that give off oxygen, example the peace lily, spider plant, mother-in-law’s tongue, aloe vera and African violet.

Judge, Margaret Everett, gave an encouraging comment on the variety of plants brought for display and judging on the competition tables. Speaker for the day, Shanice Firmin, from SDCEA gave an informative talk on climate change. She spoke mainly on the industries that have a great impact on climate change and the detrimental effect the emissions have on people’s health, plants, land, animals and water.
