Combined bowling team take third place in Kokstad tourney

This weekend saw the continuation of the Port Natal women’s pairs finals at Durban Wanderers.

Two sides from Stella Park and two sides from the Bluff competed for the trophy. Eventual winners where Stella Parks’ Louise Larkin and partner, winning the final 22-19 from Yvonne Mamotte and partner.

Bluff’s Bridgette White and partner; and Daphne Reinhardt and partner shared the bronze medals.

The men’s pairs final had to be postponed to a later date due to the provincial under 30’s tournament played on the same weekend. Latest results from the provincial under 30’s side was Paul White and the A side won two and lost one game over the weekend, while Awongiwe Somtseu and the B side won all three games they played. The annual Kokstad tournament was also held this weekend and the combined Bluff and Durban Wanderers team of Gary Moffat, Spider Williams, Jeff Bolt and Thomas Simpkins finished in third spot.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: lamb pack – Derek Rousell, beef – Derek Rousell, pork roast – Mitty Chelin, beef roast – Johnny McGregor, chicken pack – Darryl Jacobson, chicken – Johnny McGregor. The R700 snowball was not won as Leonie Venter was not present. The Friday Lotto sitting at R1 300 was a carry over as no one guessed the correct three numbers drawn.

Samantha’s kitchen is closed on Monday’s but you can order off her extensive menu every other day. On Sunday, 29 September, there will be an eisbein special with a SAB pint for R110, contact her for further information on 081-486-7039.

The club’s function rooms – tavern, upstairs and downstairs are now fully renovated and available for hire. The two squash courts also have some unallocated time slots for members and non-members. Contact the club on 031-462-2320 or pop-in for further enquiries.
