RECIPE: Brekkie bacon jam burgers

Try these juicy breakfast burgers topped with sweet and smoky bacon jam.

Instructions

For The Bacon Jam

  1. Cook bacon until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels.
  2. Reserve one tablespoon of bacon grease. Heat to medium-low. Cook onion in bacon grease for 5-7 minutes or until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  3. Stir in bacon.
  4. Add in brown sugar, maple syrup, coffee, balsamic vinegar, and mustard. Cook for 25-30 minutes or until thickened.

 

For the Breakfast Burgers

  1. In a large bowl combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 6 even patties.
  2. Heat grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook burgers for 3-5 minutes per side, or until you reach your desired level of doneness. Top with cheese, Cover with foil and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  3. While cheese is melting fry eggs.
  4. Spread bottom buns with ketchup. Top with burger, lettuce and, red onion. Top that with a fried egg.
  5. Spread bacon jam over the top bun halves. Squish and enjoy!
