AMANZIMTOTI SAPS confirms there is no waiting period to report a missing person, irrespective of the circumstances surrounding their disappearance.

Captain Charlene van der Spuy dispelled the myth that there is a 24 hour waiting period before one reports someone’s disappearance.

As soon as a loved one is discovered missing, a missing persons report should be completed at your nearest police station.

A recent photograph of the missing person, together with full details of when last the person was seen and a full description of the clothing worn at the time, must be recorded.

Any information regarding friends, family and places the person frequents will assist in the investigation.
