Brighton Beach Police reach out to the elderly

BRIGHTON Beach station commissioner Colonel Cynthia Ngubane together with her all-female team from the station recently visited the Bluff Haven Rest Home and the 7th Heaven Home for the Aged.

The female employees from the station’s Visible Policing Division and Social Crime Prevention were given a tour of the two facilities and an opportunity to engage with the elder persons and fragile care patients.

Colonel Ngubane, with the female employees, presented to the management and staff, parcels decorated with the theme of eldercare and protection, as part of the station’s social responsibility outreach initiative. The boxes each contained  28 detergents, valued at R 500 each.

Upon concluding their visits, a presentation was held which saw Ngubane hand over book marks to caregivers and residents.  These book marks were researched and created by communications officer Capt. Louise Le Roux, containing words of gratitude towards caregivers for their devotion towards caring for vulnerable groups within the Brighton Beach community.

The initiative’s project manager, Le Roux expressed her thankfulness towards male and female members from the police station who had made financial contributions towards the project and those who donated items of detergents.  She also acknowledged her project team, SAC Jolene Weich, AC Dale Benton, and Bluff resident Avril Fabre for their valuable contributions towards making the outreach initiative a success.

“There is social responsibility upon us all to reach out to vulnerable groups in the communities we work and live in. Through alliances, communities and role players can unite to address the social well-being within communities, through education and outreach,” said Le Roux.
