Bowlers do Wanderers club proud in PN men and women’s pairs

On Wednesday, 18 September, the social section hosts a comedy quiz evening.

This event is sponsored by Durban Wanderers each year, and bowlers did themselves proud with three pairs winning their sections. The club wishes the pairs of Steve van Rooyen and Wonkie Somtseu, Paul White and Dave Le Roux, and Anthony Carr and Richard Hendicott good bowling in the rounds to come on Saturday, 14 September at 12.30pm. The club will host two games of 15 ends on Saturday and then two games on Sunday, 15 September, starting at 9am.

This weekend also saw a combined side of local bowling talent travel to Umkomaas Bowling Club to take part in their annual sevens tournament. The group pulled together to win overall first spot, with Robbie Carr (Durban Wanderers), Jeff Bolt (Durban Wanderers), Robin de Gouveia (Wentworth) and Thomas Simpkins (Durban Wanderers) competing in the men’s fours and Delysia Mitchley (Alexandra Memorial), Michelle Bezuidenhout (Umkomaas) and Joanne Jordaan (Wentworth) competing in the women’s trips.

Tuesday, 24 September, will see another fun day for bowlers and non-bowlers take place, with a bring and braai prize-giving. Put your names down on the notice board list to avoid disappointment.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Lamb pack – Clive Symons, beef – Lofty Cawthorne, pork roast – Cliffy Waldek, beef roast – Richard Hendicott, chicken pack – Richard Hendicott, chicken – Diane Symons.

The R500 snowball was not won, as Gordon Chislette was not present.

The Friday Lotto, just over the R1 000 mark, was a carry-over, as no one guessed the correct three numbers drawn.

Saturday, 7 September, saw the Thumpers Motorcycle Club host their annual Spring jol. Gates opened at 11am and the crowd of just short of 500 people enjoyed the annual event. The club thanks all who supported.

On Wednesday, 18 September, the social section hosts a comedy quiz evening. Teams of four are invited to enter, with the fun starting at 6.30pm for 7pm. Cost is R20 per team.

Samantha’s Kitchen is closed on Mondays, but you can order off her extensive menu every other day. Call her on 081-486-7039.

The club’s function rooms – tavern, upstairs and downstairs are now fully renovated and available for hire. The two squash courts also have some unallocated time slots for members and non-members. Contact the club on 031-462-2320 or pop-in for further enquiries.
