READ: Executors should wind up estates quicker [LETTER]

Bear in mind that the executors as well as the attorneys that may be involved have a time frame guide that they have to adhere to which is provided by the master’s office.

There are no ‘contacts’ there that one can phone. Should one enquire before the time frame has surpassed, we are told “we are working on it” and no further help is offered.

A straight forward estate can take up to nine months to administer, as there are two adverts involved, one having to run for 21 days and the other for 30 days. You also have to calculate the time that correspondence takes to get to and from the master’s office, among other things.

Unfortunately, estate administration is a lengthy process, but I can promise you now that executors and attorneys work hard and as fast as they can to get the matter finalised.

Not only for us but as well as for closure for the family.
