YWP learner makes Durban South cricket team

“I had a plan this year to make the Durban South team and later on to make the KZN team,'' said Joshua.

Yellowwood Park Primary School’s Grade 7 learner, Joshua Ramawtar, has been selected for the U13 Durban South cricket team.

His first match as an official member took place on Saturday, 31 August. The KZN cricket festival kicks off next week at various Durban schools.

“I think I worked hard. We played a practice match before they chose the final squad and I played well. I scored 22 runs. Basically they had 13 members and they had to select 12 based on that match.

“If you didn’t perform well, you were most likely to be out of the team,” he said. “I feel proud and grateful.

“I had a plan this year to make the Durban South team and later on to make the KZN team. I am happy that I have completed the first plan. Now I’m looking forward to doing my best to get into the provincial team”, said Joshua.

He also plays for the Durban South hockey team and represents Yellowwood Park Primary in swimming at inter-school tournaments.
