Bluff Bowling Club’s G’s sit on the perch in diving bell any pairs

On Friday, 6 September is the June Foster/ Glynnis Macrory 3-2-1 killer with tabs in by 8.40am.

Gary Moffat and Greg Dorrofield had an emphatic victory in September’s edition of the diving bell any pairs competition on Sunday, 1 September at Bluff Bowling Club, when they amassed a score of 4+23 in their two 10-end games and now sit on the perch for next month’s event.

Chad Wilson and Deon Els finished in second, five shots back on a 4+18, while Jorge Santos and Phil Hill took the session prize with a 2+10. The board winner was Phyllis Maritz. Glynis Macrory might consider going into breeding, as she won both fowls up for grabs in the chicken draw.

There was a host of singles competition matches played on Saturday afternoon, 31 August, which produced the following results. In the women’s point singles, Bridget White defeated Janice Rogers 101-84 and Deirdre Koekemoer edged out Sarie Bisset 102-98.

In the men’s senior singles ,Ian Hayes beat Jorge Santos 21-9 and in an excellent match Grenville Warren edged out Noel Morel 21-19. In the novice singles, Wesley Hayes first edged out Lionel Diamond 21-20 and then accounted for Jacques Geldenhuys 21-3.

On Friday night, 30 August, George Nel won the honour of trying to locate the elusive joker card, but he unfortunately failed and the pot has climbed above the R2 000 mark and now sits at R2 217. Honey Kitchenbrand won the attendance draw, while the lotto draw was not held.

On Friday, 6 September is the June Foster/ Glynnis Macrory 3-2-1 killer with tabs in by 8.40am. On Wednesday, 11 September is the Fabricon 2-4-2 any pairs with tabs in by 1.15pm.

The John Dory any pairs will be held on Thursday morning, 18 September and the Grand Rapid Spur any pairs on Saturday, 21 September, both with tabs in at 8.40am. On the public holiday on Tuesday, 24 September, the club hosts the annual Wentworth/ Bluff challenge, so check the notice board for team selection and any other information regarding the games.

Tickets for the Gee Jays show on Friday, 25 October are now on sale at R100 each and there is only 120 available, so chat to Steve or Allen to make your purchases. This show is a fundraiser for the women’s annual tournament on Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 November. On the women’s front, the nominated pairs champions for this year are Bridget White and Glynis Macrory, while the women’s fours final will be played on Saturday, 7 September.
