Montclair police catch thieves in the act

The robbers were spotted by the police attempting to flee in their getaway vehicle and a chase ensued.

THE vigilance of police in the Montclair branch resulted in the arrest of two men who were caught in a house break-in on Monday, 26 August. Police were carrying out crime prevention operations in the area when the arrest took place.

“It is alleged that unknown men broke into a house on Halifax Road in Woodlands while the owner was inside. The owner managed to evade the thieves and hid inside the premises. The suspects ransacked her home and stole her belongings,” said KZN spokesperson, Lt-Col Thulani Zwane.

He said that the robbers were spotted by the police attempting to flee in their getaway vehicle and a chase ensued. The two men aged 37 and 39 were arrested and a car with housebreaking implements inside was seized.

“A case of housebreaking and theft was opened at the Montclair police station and the suspects were detained at the police station. They will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, 28 August,” Lt-Col Zwane added.
