Road Wizards rev up R8K for cancer [PICS]

The slight drizzle could not dampen the spirits of bikers, enthusiasts and the community who came in numbers to attend the annual Women's Day Jol.

CELEBRATING Women’s Day and raising breast cancer awareness were the order of the day at Woodlands Sports Club on Friday, 9 August. The slight drizzle could not dampen the spirits of bikers, enthusiasts and the community who came in numbers to attend the annual Road Wizards Women’s Day Jol.

The event started at 11am at Southway Mall where revving bikers escourted the PinkDrive’s mobile clinic all the way to the event venue in a bid to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. Free breasts examinations were on offer and, unsurprisingly, pink was the colour of the day. Music, a cash bar, food stalls and flea market added to the day’s ambience.

“Andre Venter, president of Road Wizards, had chosen PinkDrive to be the charity we support. We had our first PinkDrive event last year, this was only our second and it has grown tremendously. We raised R8 000 for the charity organisation thanks to sponsors that supported the cause. It was wonderful to see so many people dressed up in pink in honour of breast cancer,” said event organiser, Leonie Venter.
