Police need your help to solve rape case

POLICE are seeking assistance to solve a rape case involving a 26-year-old woman who was hijacked and then violated. The Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is making an appeal to members of the public to assist with information on the whereabouts of the men in the identikit.

On 25 May 2018 at 8.45pm the woman and a companion were in a car on Mahlathi Road in Chesterville when they were allegedly accosted by three armed men. At gunpoint, the suspects forced them out of the car. One of the men took control of the vehicle and drove off to a remote area.

“One suspect dragged the female victim into the bushes and raped her. The suspects fled the scene and the victim called for help. She was assisted by members of the public who informed them that they were in Dassenhoek,” said KZN SAPS spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala.

She added that the matter was reported to the Cato Manor police station and the docket was transferred to the Brighton Beach FCS Unit for investigation.

The men are believed to be in their 30s and can assist in the investigation of the rape and hijacking.
