Have you seen this woman? She could help find missing baby

Police believe that the woman in the identikit can assist police in finding the kidnapped child.

NEARLY two months later, baby Ntando Molefe, who was kidnapped at just three-months-old, has still not returned home. The baby went missing at Home Affairs in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday, 16 May at about 2pm.

As the search intensifies, the Pietermaritzburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating the missing baby. And police believe that the woman in the identikit can assist police in finding the kidnapped child.

Three-month-old baby Ntando Molefe was kidnapped on Thursday 16 May

SAPS KZN spokesperson, Capt Nqobile Gwala, alleged that on Thursday, 16 May at 2pm, a 24-year-old woman was at Home Affairs in Pietermaritzburg with her three-month-old baby to apply for an identity document when she met a woman who she knows by name.

“While the mother was processing the application, she was required to go to the nearest police station to get an affidavit. The woman she met offered to accompany her to the police station. While en route, she (the mother) realised that she misplaced the baby carrier at Home Affairs. She returned to Home Affairs, leaving her child with the woman. During this period the woman vanished with her baby. The child, Ntando Molefe, was three-months-old when she was kidnapped. A case of kidnapping was opened at Pietermaritzburg SAPS and is being investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit,” said Capt Gwala.
