WOW shares valuable advice in 67 minutes

Young women and moms, teens and girls were inspired to value their worth and be the best version of themselves.

THE Wentworth Organisation of Women (WOW) dedicated their 67 minutes for Mandela to educating and empowering little girls and young women to be the best version of themselves, on Thursday, 18 July.

Young women and moms, teens and girls from schools in the surrounding areas were inspired to see themselves in a positive image and to value their worth and potential as WOW founder, Patricia Dove, and other women shared some golden advice.

Patricia Dove talks to the girls about the importance of knowing their rights.

“The importance of today’s programme is about what Madiba said about children and the importance of them studying, getting an education, taking good care of themselves and being the future for tomorrow. As WOW we wanted to show that we treasure our children and more specifically our girl children. We want to do all we can to ensure that they are protected, that they know their rights and their individual value so that they may grow up to be strong, confident and approach the world with a can-do attitude,” said Patricia.

The initiative was sponsored by Edgars West Street who donated a large amount of much-needed grocery items as well as gifts to the WOW team and guests in attendance. “We are always looking to do something special for Mandela Day and when I was given an opportunity to suggest a worthy organisation to assist, WOW was the first to come to mind considering the amazing work they do for the families in the Wentworth community,” said Edgars West Street manager, Esme Colendo.

The day ended off with a heartfelt prayer as well as song, dance, a puppet show and a delicious lunch.
