Shopping centre not up to scratch [LETTER]

The shopping store itself could do with some help.

EDITOR – I often wonder why residents in the area bother to shop and spend money at the Montclair centre.

There are much better shops and centres in the area. The escalators have not been working for at least two months and when repaired they usually work for a day or two. If you dare to use the broken down escalators the management will hold no responsibility if you fall down and break a leg or such, so better be careful. The lift sometimes works and sometimes it does not work, but you only find that out after you have stood for a while wondering why it did not turn up. No notice is put up. As far as the main store is concerned and there is only the one as the so called shopping mall is full of banks these days with not many good stores, if any.

The shopping store itself could do with some help. During the very busy part of the month there is usually three or four tills opened and long queues. Why are extra staff not called in and all the tills opened? It would be a very pleasant surprise as well to get a ‘good morning’ from the staff and not have to listen to a long conversation between the packer and the cashier instead.

I rarely go to the centre in order to protect myself and only to use the library. I have phoned the regional manager and left a message, but no reply.
