Wentworth police appeal for witnesses

Witnesses may produce information anonymously to the Station Commander Colonel Van Zyl and to the Detective Commander Lt Colonel Duke.

WENTWORTH police are requesting for witnesses to come forward with any information that could help solve the recent murders in the area.

This appeal comes after police officer, Jody Fenner, 28, was murdered at an event held at the Ogle Road grounds on Sunday, 16 June and Brendon Davids, 45, who was shot and killed by a suspect at his Major Calvert Street flat on Sunday, 23 June.

“The police have attended incidents of drive-by shootings of late, and call upon the public as possible witnesses to come forward and assist the police in identifying the culprits in these cases which have been reported,” said Wentworth police spokesperson, Captain Mbuso Gumede.

Witnesses may produce information anonymously to the Station Commander Colonel Van Zyl and to the Detective Commander Lt Colonel Duke. Information given will be treated as confidential. Crime can also be reported on the crime stop number 0860-010-111 or 10111. “Crime affects everyone, therefore, it is important to report it when you see it happening in your area. Let us fight crime together and be the eyes and ears of the police,” concluded Gumede.
