The Bluff CPF Youth Desk, which is a volunteer-based structure that falls under the main Bluff Community Policing Forum, encourages and enables young people to participate actively in identifying the causes of youth violence and crime and to collaborate in creating social crime prevention strategies for the community. In the previous meeting held on 11 June, levels of crime and matters of public concern were on the agenda.

“The youth desk seeks to address many aspects of crime and its impact on youth in our community. It will benefit our community by developing a good relationship between the police and youth, while also creating awareness and identifying safety needs of youth as well as enabling the youth to act as good citizens and role models. This forum will also empower the youth in crime prevention, communication, interpersonal skills and conflict-resolution.

“In our next meeting, we would like to inform and educate the community and members attending the meeting what we have learned from the last training session that we attended. We would also like to have an induction, where we have invited people from other youth desks to come in and explain how things work and seek their assistance in fully launching our CPF Youth Desk,” said Community Policing Forum Youth Desk Chairperson, Charles Leaven, in an appeal to the Bluff public to attend the upcoming meeting.
