Wanderers bowlers progress to quarter finals

Saturday, 8 June saw the all Natal men’s 4s begin in Margate.

Steve van Rooyen, Richard Hendicott, Peter Vink and Paul White did the club proud in winning their section, to progress to the quarter finals. Sunday’s breakfast trips saw 16 sides take to the greens to battle for the five prizes on offer. The 60/40 board was won by Rob Philogene and Jeff Bolt claiming the R40 and R20 respectively. The sport men’s prize went the way of Norman Moore, Colin Nicholas and Dave Matthews on a 0-16. First session went to Kerry Gilder, Christo Samuels and Rex Meyer on a 2+11. Robin Grobler, Trish Overington and Tommy Cloete lost the second session and second overall on a count-out to Wonke Somtseu and Denis and Chantal Hearnshaw on a 2+9 and Kim and Lorinne Hawkins and Terrence Arnold on a 4+15 respectively. Overall winners on the day were Dave Le Roux, Mike Freeman and Cave James on a 4+24.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: lamb pack – Chris Fourie, beef – Zianda Zulu, pork roast – Clive Symons, beef roast – Neville Phillips, chicken pack – Leon Haupfleisch, chicken – Bruce Wayne. The R700 snowball was won by ever present Mitty Chelin. The Friday lotto was a R370 carry over as no one guessed the correct three numbers drawn. The joker draw will commence soon, watch this space.

Samantha’s kitchen is closed on Monday’s but you can order off her extensive menu every other day, contact her for further information on 081-486-7039.Sunday, 16 June is Fathers Day, and the club will be offering the popular eisbein special at R100. Bookings are essential to avoid disappointment. SAB pints will be on special on the day at R12 per pint while stocks last.

The club’s function rooms – tavern, upstairs and downstairs are now fully renovated and available for hire. The two squash courts also have some unallocated time slots for members and non-members. Contact the club on 031-462-2320 or pop-in for further enquiries.
