UPDATE: Montclair SAPS investigates N2 shooting

Charges of carjacking and attempted murder have been opened and are currently being investigated by Montclair SAPS.

KZN police have confirmed that charges of carjacking and attempted murder have been opened and are currently being investigated by Montclair SAPS following the shooting incident that took place this morning (4 June) on the N2 northbound freeway.

KZN SAPS spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala said, “It is alleged today at 10:30am a truck driver was hijacked of his vehicle in the Lamontville area. The driver and his conductor were shot on the N2 freeway northbound. They sustained gunshot wounds to the head and stomach and were taken to hospital for medical attention. We can confirm charges of carjacking and attempted murder are being investigated by Montclair SAPS.”

According to Rescue Care Paramedics both patients have sustained critical injuries and were taken to eThekwini Hospital.

The N2 after Higginson Highway has been reopened.
