Youth to voice opinions at CPF youth desk

A CPF Youth Desk is a volunteer-based structure and falls under the main Community Policing Forum.

BLUFF youth have been given the opportunity to voice their opinions through the CPF Youth Desk, a forum for the youth within the community to participate in the fight against crime and violence as well as build a culture of learning, tolerance and respect.

A CPF Youth Desk is a volunteer-based structure and falls under the main Community Policing Forum. The youth desks encourages and enable young people to participate actively in identifying the causes of youth violence and crime and to collaborate in creating social crime prevention strategies for the community.

All that is required of the youth is to be between the ages of 18 – 35.

“This forum seeks to address many aspects of crime and its impact on youth in our community. It will benefit our community by developing a good relationship between SAPS and youth, while also creating awareness and identifying safety needs of youth as well as enabling the youth to act as good citizens and role models. This forum will also empower the youth in crime prevention, communication, interpersonal skills and conflict-resolution,” said Charles Leaven.

A meeting is planned to take place on Monday, 13 May. All youth are welcomed to attend. It will take place at the Brighton Beach Police Station boardroom at 5.30pm.
