Residents stay informed with street meetings

Meetings are also posted on the Bluff Community Notice Board Facebook page under the events tab.

STREET meetings held all over the Bluff was created to connect and develop an active citizen community. It started in 2017 by Ward 66 councillor, JP Prinsloo and his office, who are actively involved in the planning and development of the community.

“The response to the meetings so far have been great. I have met with over 400 residents over the last three months. Thus far, I have held meetings in the following areas Grosvenor, Fynnlands, Ocean View and Brighton Beach. I will be conducting street meetings in the Wentworth a Treasure beach during April,” said Prinsloo. “We inform residents by handing our 200 street meeting leaflets per street meeting.”

Residents are made aware of the meeting with a leaflet which is hung on every gate a few days before the meeting. SMS’s are also sent to residents in the area the inform them of the meeting. “If people do not receive an SMS, it means I do not have their correct details and should supply that to my office to receive communication in the future,” added Prinsloo.

Meetings are also posted on the Bluff Community Notice Board Facebook page under the events tab.

The goal of the meetings is to inform people of the issues the ward and Ethekwini faces, the successes achieved in Ward 66 and sharing the combined vision and goals for the community, as well as promoting a sense of ownership among residents and creating a prosperous and economically vibrant community.
“In order for people to truly be part of a community they need to take interest in that community. Each of these street meetings provide residents with the opportunity to be part of our community.”

“It is an opportunity for people to understand what we are trying to achieve on the Bluff. Share the challenges that I face in achieving our community objectives and listen to residents about the issues they face in their area.”
