Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find carnage. “It is alleged that a vehicle broke down on the highway and as the passenger alighted from the car, a vehicle ploughed into them. The man, believed to be in his late 20s, sustained major injuries and unfortunately, there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene,” said Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care Paramedics.

Three other occupants from both vehicles sustained various injuries and once stabilised on the scene they were transported to a nearby hospital.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said that a 38-year-old man was declared dead at the scene due to injuries sustained. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated and a case of culpable homicide is being investigated by Montclair SAPS.
