Raquel bags haul of medals at SA champs

Raquel, a junior member at Marine Surf Lifesaving Club competed at the SA champs in PE last weekend.

BLUFF resident and Durban Girls High pupil Raquel Robbins (16) helps Marine Surf Lifesaving Club defend their overall title with eight medals at the South African Surf Lifesaving Champs, held in Port Elizabeth from 25 to 31 March.

Raquel, a junior member at Marine Surf Lifesaving Club competed at the SA champs in PE last weekend. Her early morning training on surf ski and Malibu board as well as swimming training in the afternoon paid off with eight medals in total: two swimming pool medals and six surf medals.

Raquel received a gold for junior female surf ski relay, gold for junior female tube rescue, silver for U17 female Malibu board race, silver for junior female Taplin relay, silver for junior female Malibu board relay, bronze for U17 female long beach run, bronze for girls 14 to 18 years 100m 4 x 25m Manikin relay and bronze for women 200m 4 x 50m obstacle relay.
