Bluff drop-off spots for Cyclone Idai aid donations

Cheryl Waterman commends those who have given already and commends Bluff for always being a giving community.

FOLLOWING the devastation of Cyclone Idai which tore through Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi, leaving death and devastation in its path, a Bluff real estate company has opened its offices as a collection point for perishable goods and items to be donated to ease the loss in these neighbouring countries.

Tyson Property agents Anne Donkin, Bev Cauvin, Cheryl Waterman and Lynn Roper are reaching out to the Bluff community to open their pockets and pantry and help them amass enough goods to send off with the Gift of the Givers to the affected areas. They have already amassed a mound of donations at Wentworth Bowling Club but hope to see more donated in the coming weeks.

They were inspired to help ease the burden of those affected by the cyclone after they saw a post about collection points in Chatsworth. “I know many Bluff residents who want to help can’t travel to Chatsworth to drop off their goods, so we decided to make two points, Tyson Properties situated at Bluff Golf Course and Wentworth Bowling Club, to make it easier for people in this area,” said Cheryl Waterman.

She commends those who have given already and commends Bluff for always being a giving community. “I know we can make a difference by helping our brothers and sisters through this devastation,” she added.

Items which can be donated include water, non-perishable goods in cans as well as clothing and blankets.

For more information or to donate contact Lynn Roper on 082-339-2694.
