Wentworth SAPS medal recipients lauded

Wentworth police station's members were recently lauded at a medal parade held at the SAPS Academy in Chatsworth.

WENTWORTH police station’s members attended a medal parade held at the SAPS Academy in Chatsworth on Wednesday, 27 March.

The medal parade was officiated by eThekwini Inner South Cluster commander, Major General Chirwa.
Members of Wentworth SAPS were among the medal recipients in different categories, including years of service, the Soccer World Cup medal as well as the centenary medal which celebrates 100 years of policing. The medal parade was graced by acting deputy provincial commissioner Zondi, who was a keynote speaker. He delivered a speech to the recipients, encouraging members to serve the community with dignity, respect and be faithful. The day’s activities also included a drill display by police members who were led by the SAPS brass band, who proudly played the national anthem.

Wentworth SAPS station commander Colonel Willem Van Zyl, who attended along with his members, said: “The medal parade was a memorable event, not only for me personally but also the other recipients, appreciating with pride and acknowledgement by senior management of the police. It is and will always be a very proud moment in every police officer’s career when a medal is pinned to their chest.”
