Switch off for Earth hour this Saturday

Every year millions of people, businesses and landmarks set aside an hour to host events, switch off their lights and make noise for the Earth Hour movement.

Starting as a symbolic lights out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people to take action for the planet and nature.

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on a specific day towards the end of March, as a symbol of commitment to the planet. This year it will take place on Saturday, 30 March.
