Body discovered after another Amanzimtoti drowning

This is one of many drownings that have occurred lately.

THE body of an unknown man was pulled from the surf at Amanzimtoti Main Beach on Wednesday, 20 March by eThekwini lifeguards.

Police and divers of Durban Search and Rescue were called out to the drowning, this being one of many that have taken place lately.

The body has since been handed over to the Amanzimtoti SAPS and an inquest docket has been opened.

When planning to swim at the beach, ensure that you do so at a lifeguard patrolled beach (Toti Main Beach, Winkle Beach and Warnadoone Beach) between 8am and 5pm, and swim between the flags indicating the safe bathing area. Do not swim when under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Heed all instructions of the lifeguards at all times, as they are set in place to ensure the safety of those visiting the beach.
