New leadership for Woodlands WI

The next meeting will be held on Friday, 5 April.

ON Friday, 8 March Woodlands Women’s Institute outgoing president Maureen Lavis opened the AGM and welcomed executive president Sharon Quail, Robyn Murray and Wendy Henderson who stood in as secretary and then said the Mary Stewart Collect.

Maureen Lavis read her president’s report and the 2018 financial statement. Executive president Sharon Quail took the chair and welcomed Valerie Wagner as president, Koulla Tsouris as vice president and Sheila Mathieson as treasurer. They were presented with their badges.

There were no nominations for secretary. After tea, Clint Halkett-Siddall, the new director of the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) gave an informative talk.

  • Home products: Second Linda Gibbs, third Barbara Endres.
  • Embroidery: First Barbara Endres, second Barbara Kruger, third Koulla Tsouris.
  • Best specimen: First Koulla Tsouris, second Linda Gibbs, third Phyllis Parsonage.
  • Best rose: First Phyllis Parsonage, second Sandra Naidoo, third Barbara Kruger.
  • Best orchid: First Barbara Endres, second Linda Gibbs, third Koulla Tsouris.
  • Merit: First Koulla Tsouris, second Barbara Endres, third Barbara Kruger.

Gift towels from Woodlands WI members were presented to Maureen Lavis and Hazel Deme. A donation was presented to Clint Halkett-Siddall of CROW.

The meeting closed at 11.30am with the saying of the Women’s Institute prayer. The next meeting will be held on Friday, 5 April.
