Incoming executive welcomed at Stainbank WI

A big thank you to all members who served on the committee last year and to all who always go the extra mile.

A BIG welcome was extended to all members and visitors by Stainbank Women’s Institute president Arlene Greenfield and to executive member Sharon Quail who attended the AGM.

After the singing of Unity, apologies were given and unfortunately three more resignations were received from longstanding members.

As there were no new nominations for president and committee members, the executive member seconded Arlene Greenfield as president, Linda Hewer as vice president and treasurer and Barbara Ilsley as secretary and welcomed Lyn Graham on to the committee.

Many thanks to all who stood again this year. A big thank you to all members who served on the committee last year and to all who always go the extra mile. The institute welcomed Linda Melson as judge and thanks Hazel Demo and May Scott for assisting in the past. Linda Melson will judge again in July.

Prizes were handed out to winners of the competitions over the year with Koulla Tsourtis being overall winner. Long service badges were handed to Anne Barnard, Des Cousins and Charmaine Davidson. Monica Wilson received her 50 year badge at the Christmas party.

Members are reminded that fees are due and assistance with the raffles each month.

The president’s and vice president’s reports were read out, with a mention of the many speakers over the year and the many charities which were assisted by the WI and which will continue to be assisted.

Thanks was extended to the tea members. Raffles and competitions were read out and then Lyn Graham had everyone thinking hard as she gave a quick quiz. The group AGM will be held on Monday, 29 April The meeting closed with a prayer and wishes for all to go safely and take care. The WI is open to all women in the area, so go along for an enjoyable morning with friends.
