Montclair SAPS made a successful arrest following six business robberies at Pep Stores in Clairwood last year.

MONTCLAIR detectives were hailed for their investigations which led to the successful conviction of a man who carried out six business robberies at a Clairwood clothing store in 2017.

Montclair SAPS responded to six business robberies at Pep Stores in Clairwood during that year.
Following thorough investigations and observations several times in an effort trace and arrest the suspects, Montclair trio crimes unit’s Captain E Naidoo, Captain S Pillay, Cst SS Shezi and Cst BG Dlamini arrested Bongani Freeman Makhanya and linked him to all six cases in September 2018.

On Wednesday 27 February, Makhanya appeared in Durban Regional Court and was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment on each count. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning he will effectively serve 12 years, according to Montclair SAPS spokesperson Captain Derek Vijiam.

The detectives are commended for their thoroughness during the arrest, investigation and conviction of the accused.
