For those attending school or work, regardless of scorching temperatures, the show must go on. In saying that, here are some important tips to heed when the temperatures are predicted to skyrocket.

Always remember:
- To drink a lot of fluids (especially water).
- To not physically exert yourself to the extent that could result in heat exhaustion.
- Load on the deo (or powder) to keep excessive sweat at bay.
- Optimise your fans and windows (draping your open windows during the day may keep the inside of your home cooler than if you let the sun beat in all day long).
- Keep food cool and avoid using the oven.
- Apply ice or a cool wet facecloth to your body’s best cooling points (neck, wrists, ankles, feet) to naturally cool down your body.

- Keep your car’s interior cool.
- Check your fluids often.
- Check your hoses and belts often.
- If you have an old battery, look to replace it soon.
- Keep an eye on your tyre pressure.
- Stick to the highways if you can, rather than taking side streets.
- Always choose to walk further from a shady parking, that walking a short distance from a car parked in the blazing sun.
