Rousing message for scholars at Mowat Park Founder’s Day

Jovial was the spirit as Mowat Park High School celebrated their annual Founder's Day on Friday, 22 February.

As part of the day’s programme, academic, sports and culture awards were awarded to the school’s top achievers for 2018. Special guest speaker and past Mowat Park pupil, was Siphosenkosi Gcina.

Gcina is today a proud news producer for eNCA news. She reflected on her days as a ‘Mowat girl’ who once walked the passages of the school with big dreams of living a remarkable life. She encouraged the girls to focus and prioritise their studies, listen to the wise words of their teachers and to wear the Mowat Park stamp with pride.

“Your years at Mowat are moulding and equipping you towards a bright future, so make the most out of it. Keep your faith close to your heart, believe in yourself and love yourself,” were Gcina’s parting words to the girls.

Mowat Park’s new grade 8’s closed Founder’s Day festivities by walking down the Ollies Stairs.

The newly admitted grade 8’s were also given a warm official welcome by their principal, Nkosinathi Tsaulwayo, who gave an encouraging speech of how to make the most of one’s high school career. The Founder’s Day classic ceremony which sees the grade 8’s walk down Ollie’s Stairs concluded the day’s festivities with heartwarming cheers from parents and fellow pupils.
