Stainbank WI salutes Salvation Army

What amazing work this organisation does for the homeless and needy.

STAINBANK Women’s Institute (SWI) president Arlene Greenfield welcomed all members and visitors and to Hope Bailie at the first meeting of the year.

Thoughts went out to those who could not join in.

The secretary read out a letter of thanks from ‘Pathways’ and an invite to visit them soon. A letter of resignation was received from Margaret Croshaw. She is thanked for the numerous raffles she supplied every month. SWI’s finances are in order according to the treasurer, but fees are now due. If there is a problem, speak to Linda Hewer.

SWI will only have competitions for this year in March, July and November so the competition set for February will be judged in March. Many thanks to Linda Melson for offering to judge.

March is also the AGM and it is hoped members will come forward to assist.

After a delicious tea, speaker Sue Kidget from the Salvation Army was introduced. What amazing work this organisation does for the homeless and needy. Fortunately SWI was able to make a large donations in articles and cash to assist. The Salvation Army continually needs assistance from the public.

Birthdays and anniversaries were celebrated and raffles, swindle and R40 club were drawn. Beattie Johnson Webber was lucky this month.

The meeting closed with the WI prayer and thoughts as always to keep safe and aware and of course to continually spread the word about Stainbank WI.
