Passengers left in Marrianhill after Clairwood hijacking

A motorist driving a Toyota Quantum unknowingly became a victim of a hijacking when he picked up the suspects disguised as passengers.

A motorist driving a white Toyota Quantum was hijacked on South Coast Road in Clairwood on Wednesday, 23 January after he stopped to pick up passengers.
One of the passengers allegedly pointed a firearm at him, according to Montclair SAPS spokesman, Captain Derek Vijiam. The policeman said the driver was instructed to switch off the engine and pushed to the back of the vehicle.

“Three other suspects, also in possession of firearms pointed towards the passengers, forcing them to lay flat on their chests. They searched the passengers and driver and removed their cell phones. The criminals placed their feet on the passengers. One suspect drove the vehicle and dropped the driver and passengers off in Marianhill, before they drove off with the vehicle,” said Vijiam.

No serious injuries were sustained and no arrests have been made yet. Police are investigating the case further.
