RECIPES: Refreshing fruit and water combos

Tantalise your taste buds, get more water into your system, detox, feel healthier overall and even shed a few kilos with these fruit and water combos this summer.

With summer upon us – and even all year round too – we’re made well aware of the benefits to be reaped by increasing our water intake. This is all fair and well, but glass after glass of water can grow boring on the taste buds.

For health reasons and to change up the mix, try out these simple and deliciously-refreshing fruit-in-water combinations.

Incorporating these interesting water combos into your diet will not only leave you feeling overall healthier, but will encourage you to drink much more water which results in detoxing your body and even shedding a few kilos.

1.  Lavender lemonade

Ditch the syrupy concentrate and simple combine lemon slices (rind and all) and a few sprigs of lavender. Lavender adds a sweet twist, keeping the drink refreshing and tasty.

2. Strawberry mint water

Pop some strawberry slices and a handful of chopped/ripped mint leaves into a jug of water or even into a waterbottle before hitting the gym, and indulge in the refreshing goodness.

3. Citrus mint water

Throw in some sliced anti-oxidant rich grapefruit, lemon and cucumber with some ripped mint leaves into a jug of water and enjoy reaping all the goodness! This is a great immune-system booster.

4. Watermelon basil water

6. Pear vanilla water:

Pear, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla bean join forces for this unique refresher. Also, ginger helps improve digestion, eases nausea and boosts your immune system while quenching your thirst.

7. Apple cinnamon water:

This combo doesn’t have to be reserved for the colder months. Combine wedges of apple, some cinnamon plums and pears if you like. Cinnamon aids digestion, so this is a great choice for post-meal refreshment.

8. Strawberry jalapeno infused water

Stimulate your senses by adding spicy jalapeno to your concoction. Strawberry does add a sweet, refreshing touch to the mix. This is a great idea if suffering with cold symptoms or sinus, as this drink will really clear those issues out.
