Local student set to jet off to Denmark

Corwin Quail has been awarded the unique opportunity to represent not only his school but also his country in Denmark next year.

LOOKING forward to making his mark in the new year is 16-year-old Yellowwood Park (YWP) resident, Corwin Quail, who has been accepted as an exchange student to Denmark for 2019.

Learners at the school write examinations set and marked by the University of Cambridge Examinations board in the United Kingdom (UK) and have on-going support throughout the year from experienced and successful educators, who annually undergo professional training and development to ensure that quality teaching is achieved.

Young Quail, who attends Cambridge at Glenwood High School,  has been awarded the unique opportunity to represent not only his school but also his country, while gaining vast knowledge through his school’s student exchange programme in partnership with AFS Intercultural Programs. He will depart on 24 January and will return back home on 27 December 2019.

Commenting on his big milestone, the promising student said that he is excited about this new opportunity and is ready to make the most of it, reckoning that for now, the achievement is pretty hollow. “The substance comes from the experience itself. I think the opportunity to integrate and learn about the world is what makes the achievement worthwhile. My goals, will, therefore, stem from that. I want to make good friends and learn the language. I also want to show people there, or rather tell them about South Africa and everything the country has to offer, thereby exposing them to our unique and richly diverse culture,” he explained.

Quail is also well known in Yellowwood Park for helping in many charity projects through Caring and Sharing and running the YWP Women’s Institute bookstall at local markets. His family, friends and the community of YWP wish him every success in his exciting year ahead.
