His numerous arrests in trio crimes which include housebreaking, hijacking and house robberies and his many hours of service to the community through his crime prevention work made him a star candidate and obvious choice to be named top KZN reservist cop. This achievement has been the highlight of the 32-year-old’s year as he wasn’t expecting to win. “I’m still in shock. You can imagine the moment they called my name as the winner, I was not expecting it since I was up against other great policemen and women,” he said.

His policing career started in 2008 when he joined the police service, and 10 years later his passion to protect and serve has not wavered. “I enjoy what I do. I dreamt about being policemen since I was a child and now I’m living it,” he smiled.
The first person he told of his win was his fellow officer and mentor, Sgt Alex Maphumulo. “I have always looked up to him and he has been my guide and mentor over the years, so this was me saying thank you to him. I was so proud of myself and I’m sure he is proud of me to,” he said grinning.
