Merebank pensioner reveals killer’s identity before she dies

The suspect has been detained at Wentworth SAPS

An elderly Merebank woman revealed her killer’s identity before taking her last dying breath yesterday afternoon (Sunday, 25 November).
Wentworth SAPS were alerted of the murder at Arcot Place at about 4pm.
On arrival, they found the 79-year-old woman had already succumb to her stab wounds. A witness who arrived at the scene first, told police the woman, who was still alive at the time, had managed to tell them who stabbed her in the neck and face before she succumbed to her injuries.

Detectives at the scene used the information provided to track down a 37-year-old man, who they arrested early on Monday morning in Durban North, where he was hiding.
The deceased’s body was taken to the Gale Street government mortuary, while the investigation continues.
“The suspect has been detained at Wentworth SAPS until he is formally charged. He will appear in court soon,” said Wentworth SAPS spokesman, Capt Mbuso Gumede.
